When most people think of "Temperature Play," they think of glass or stainless-steel toys.

While those materials get hot or cold quickly, they have a major flaw: They lose that temperature just as fast.

If you own a Mr. Hankey’s Toy, you are sitting on a hidden feature that you might not be using. Because our toys are 100% solid, hand-poured platinum-cured silicone, they possess incredible "Thermal Mass." They act like a battery for heat or cold, holding their temperature for significantly longer than hollow or glass alternatives.

Whether you want the soothing relaxation of heat or the electric thrill of ice, here is how to use temperature to transform your experience—without damaging your investment (or yourself).

They act like a battery for heat or cold, holding their temperature for significantly longer than hollow or glass alternatives.

Whether you want the soothing relaxation of heat or the electric thrill of ice, here is how to use temperature to transform your experience—without damaging your investment (or yourself).

1. The "Heat" Method: Relaxation & Realism

Warming your toy is excellent for warm-up sessions or for those using larger sizes (Tier 3 & 4). Heat naturally relaxes the pelvic floor muscles, increases blood flow, and makes "taking" a large toy significantly easier and more comfortable.

How to Heat Safely:

  1. The Water Bath: Fill a bowl or clean sink with hot tap water (not boiling).
  2. Submerge: Place your toy in the water for 5–10 minutes. The dense silicone needs time to absorb the heat into its core.
  3. The "Wrist Test": Before play, touch the toy to the inside of your wrist (pulse point). If it burns your wrist, it will burn your internal tissue. Let it cool until it is comfortably warm.

Why Silicone Wins Here: Unlike glass, which can feel scorching hot on the surface but cold inside, silicone warms evenly. When a textured Mr. Hankey’s toy is warm, the material mimics body heat, making the fantasy shapes feel incredibly "organic" and alive.

The Danger Zone (Do NOT Do This):

  • NEVER use the Microwave: Microwaves heat unevenly, creating invisible "hot spots" inside the silicone that can burn you even if the surface feels cool.
  • NO Open Flame: Silicone is heat resistant, but soot and direct fire can damage the finish.

2. The "Cold" Method: Sensation & Stamina

Cooling your toy changes the game completely. Cold is a "vasoconstrictor"—it shrinks blood vessels and creates a tingling, sensitizing effect. It is perfect for stimulating tired nerves or adding a "wake-up call" to your routine.

How to Cool Safely:

  1. The Fridge Strategy (Recommended): Place your toy in a clean bag and leave it in the refrigerator for 20–30 minutes. This gets it refreshingly cool without being painfully freezing.
  2. The Freezer Strategy (Advanced): You can freeze platinum silicone—it won't crack like glass. However, limit freezer time to 10–15 minutes.

Why Silicone Wins Here: When silicone gets cold, it gets firmer. If you have a "Soft" (Shore 00-30) toy that you wish were a little harder for a specific session, tossing it in the fridge temporarily stiffens the material, giving you a firmer experience until it warms back up to body temp.

The Danger Zone:

  • Frostbite Risk: If a toy is "ice cube" cold, do not leave it in one spot against mucous membranes for too long. Keep the toy moving to avoid tissue damage.

3. The Material Advantage: Why "Solid Pour" Matters

Mass-market toys are often hollow or made of TPE (jelly).

  • Hollow Toys: Have no density to hold the temperature. They go back to room temp in 2 minutes.
  • TPE/Jelly: Can melt or release toxic oils when exposed to high heat.

Mr. Hankey’s Advantage: Our toys are solid blocks of platinum-cured silicone. Once they reach your desired temperature, they hold it. This means you aren't rushing your session before the toy gets cold/warm again. You can take your time and enjoy the enhanced sensation.

Summary: A New Way to Play

You don't need to buy a new toy to get a new experience.

  • Want a relaxing, intimate session? Warm it up.
  • Want a firmer, intense wake-up call? Cool it down.

Just remember the golden rule of temperature play: Test it on your hand before you put it anywhere else.
