Silicone Sex Toy Safety & Care Guides Archive

If you walked into a traditional adult retail shop a decade ago, you knew exactly what to expect. The aesthetic was often dark, the aisles were cramped, and the shelves were lined with thousands of nearly identical, mass-produced novelties wrapped in cheap plastic packaging. Fantasy shapes and extreme sizes were considered a fringe subculture, often relegated to the dusty bottom shelves or hidden in the back room.

Today, the entire industry has experienced a massive, sex-positive renaissance.

Modern adult boutiques are bright, high-end, and fiercely dedicated to wellness and body safety. The aesthetic of the modern fantasy sex store has gone mainstream. Consumers are highly educated, eco-conscious, and refuse to settle for cheap, toxic plastics. As a result, the best brick-and-mortar boutiques are completely overhauling their inventory. They are ditching imported jelly toys and partnering directly with premium, domestic sex toy manufacturers.

Here is why retail leaders are actively seeking

TL;DR

A good plus-size strap-on harness should fit where you actually wear it, stay stable as you move, and support the specific toy and attachment system you plan to use. Measure your body instead of relying on clothing size, confirm the exact toy-and-harness compatibility, and test the full setup before penetration. With a large dildo, weight distribution, base geometry, attachment hardware, and firmness can all change how controllable the setup feels.

There is no correct body for strap-on play. Awkward angles usually come from a poor harness fit, a heavy toy that overwhelms the front panel, or a position that makes both partners work around the equipment. Fix the setup and the experience can feel steadier, easier, and more connected.

How to Measure for a Plus-Size Strap-On Harness

One waist measurement does not reveal where a harness will sit or how its straps behave when you bend, kneel, or sit. Body shape, hip width, thigh circumference, and mobility can all change where straps rest,

Building a custom toy can be almost too open-ended. Once you have chosen a shape, size, and Shore firmness, you may still be looking at solids, marbles, metallic effects, contrasting accents, and more color combinations than anyone should have to compare in one sitting.

For some collectors, making every one of those decisions is the best part. For others, it turns a fantasy purchase into a design exam.

That is where the Surprise Pour comes in. Also known as Dealer's Choice, it lets a custom dildo

Owning one great silicone toy is awesome, but curating a proper collection? That’s next-level fun. Some days you want that warm, familiar feeling of a realistic partner. Other days you’re craving wild texture that makes your toes curl or that deep, satisfying stretch that leaves you blissed out. A thoughtfully built “pleasure wardrobe” means you always have the right toy for your mood.

Let’s walk through how to do it right without wasting money on duplicates or ruining your investment.

Why a Balanced Collection Makes Everything Better

Buying randomly often leads to a drawer full of “kinda similar” toys. The secret sauce? Contrast. We recommend building around three foundational pillars that cover the main types of sensations most people crave.

Reaching the point where regular toys no longer give you that thrilling stretch is a huge milestone. Many people then start thinking about fisting. But finding a trusted partner, dealing with unpredictable movements, and managing safety can be challenging.

A well-engineered giant silicone dildo can deliver that same overwhelming fullness, often more safely and controllably  in the comfort of solo play.

Here’s how to do it right.

Introduction

Walk into any adult retailer - physical or online - and you'll find shelves lined with products in every shape, size, and color imaginable. What you won't always find is transparency about what those products are actually made of. For decades, the sex toy industry operated with virtually no regulatory oversight, leaving consumers to navigate a marketplace where cheap, potentially harmful materials were commonplace and rarely disclosed.

The "Fast Fashion" Problem in Adult Toys

In 2026, we talk about "fast fashion" in clothing, but rarely in our most intimate purchases. The reality is that the adult industry is flooded with mass-produced PVC and jelly toys designed to degrade. They smell of chemicals, they melt if stored incorrectly, and they end up in landfills within months.

At Mr. Hankey’s Toys, we operate on a different philosophy: Buy once, enjoy forever.

When you choose a hand-poured piece, you aren't just buying a fantasy shape; you are investing in 100% Platinum-Cured Silicone. Here is the scientific difference between mass-produced "novelties" and small-batch artistry—and why the latter is the only truly sustainable choice.
